Jump Creek

We drove out to Jump Creek this past weekend. A+, Would do again!  It was so fun, and perfect for the Littles.

We brought a little picnic and explored down the stream by the parking lot.  Stella was mortified by any fly that dared to land near her food.  Damon ended up having to make a human roll cage around her with his body before she'd calm down enough to continue eating. You haven't seen toddler anxiety until you've seen Stella confronted with a fly.

Trail head!

All along the trail there were paths leading off into mini pockets of stream and rock caves.  Indie wanted to explore them all!  I loved watching her self of adventure come out. She's usually pretty reserved and too cautious to go off the beaten path.

Stella cuddled to Daddy for most of the walk in.  Finn was my cuddle buddy in the baby carrier.

This cutie Indie girl is our self appointed leader for any activity. Forever and always.  Stella's started to catch on that it's a position greatly coveted, so naturally they now both race to lead.  However, the terrain of this hike was too unsteady for Stella to compete.

After a short walk we made it to the falls. Indie was all about climbing on, over and through all the rocks.  I remember climbing on rocks and trees as a little kid. It was my favorite. Watching Indie start to enjoy it as well made me so happy.

If you know Indie you know she HATES to be wet.  Any teeny speck of water will cause her to meltdown and need an immediate removal of all afflicted clothing. Well. This summer Indie is coming into a new sense of adventure and testing some limits she hasn't before.  Which is awesome!  We just need to get her some tougher skin to match.  She was rock jumping the boulders/larger rocks in the water and slipped.  She fell butt first into the freezing cold water.  It was all over after that.  Too hard to recover from.

Damon & I were sure all the kids would pass out from exhaustion during the drive home. Finn missed his nap & the girls had been up til 9:30 the night before. We were wrong. All three of them were crazy hyper and silly the whole way home.  We loved ya Jump Creek!
